The mycoplasmas are causing significant economic damage, these conditions being constant attention of farmers and veterinary services. Economic losses may be due to mortality, veterinary restrictions, a decrease in meat production, increased feed consumption and expenditure specific therapeutic and control measures. The conducted reaserches aimed at methods of disease treatment and diagnosis of enzootic pneumonia based on morphopathological lesions (macroscopic and histopathological) in dead pigs cases.

Therapeutic and lesional aspects of feline infectious peritonitis

Author: Adrian C. Stancu
Affiliation: Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Timișoara

The prevalence of feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) can not be assessed on the basis of serological surveys because positive serological reagents rate does not correlate with disease rates. In units with more cats and numerous movements (input – output), the proportion of positive serological reagents is very high, and could reach, in some countries or regions at 50-75-100%, while among cats scattered near homes reactants rate positive to VPIF is well below 50%. Research conducted aimed at treating and determining evolutionary form of FIP based on pathological lesions in cats dead.

Authors: Simona Sturzu, Daniela Tirsinoaga, Ioana Tihulca, Alina Karina Drăghici
Affiliation: Institute for Control of Veterinary Biological Products and Medicines, Bucharest

The present study describes the results obtained by the Microbiological Control Laboratory from Institute for Control of Biological Products and Veterinary Medicines after participating in the proficiency testing scheme study on microbiological assay of nystatin and tobramycin. The proficiency testing scheme was organized by European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines and Health Care. The microbiological method consisted of a cylinderplate agar diffusion assay using Bacillus subtilis ATCC 6633 for tobramycin and Saccharomyces cerevisiae for nystatin as the test microorganism. The means of results were 108.70 % of label claim for nystatin and 104.70% of label claim for tobramicin. The Z scores were 0.14 for tobramycin and 1.40 for nystatin, the assigned value used for booth samples was 105.4% for tobramycin and 101.7% for nystatin. The performance of Microbiological Control Laboratory was very good for both samples.

Environmental risk assessment (ERA) is mandatory for all new applications for centralized marketing authorization or national regardless of their legal basis. ERA aims to protect the environment. Risk assessment has two phases of veterinary product evaluation possible role of exposure and its effects. Phase I of the ERA is based on filling a decision tree with 19 questions. If the answers to these questions do not stop the assessment at this stage then is advancing to Phase II. It uses a two stage approach stage A and stage B. The first stage, stage A, studies using simple, less expensive studies. I f the assessment is not complete, then is appealed to Step B to drill ERA. If there is still a risk indicator after filling and assessment in stage B, then, to mitigate risk, is recommended the file discussing and of the proposals for additional data.

Simultaneous determination of related substances of oxytetracycline in pharmaceutical semi solid form by Hight Performace Liquid Chromatography

Author: Violeta Giugiu                                                                                                                               Affiliation: Romvac Company S.A., Bucharest

Simultaneous determination of oxytetracycline, 4-epioxytetracycline, alpha-apooxytetracycline, tetracycline, beta-apooxytetracycline on C18 columns has been accomplished using a high performance liquid chromatographic method with UV detection. Separation was achieved on a Hypersil BDS RP-C18 column with a mobile phase consisted of acetonitrile-methanol-80mM dipotassium phosphate pH 7,5 at a flow rate of 0,7 mL min-1. Absorbance measurements were held at 254 nm.

Small guide in therapetic management of inflamation and colics in ecvines

Authors: Romeo T. Cristina, Adrian Marcu – Gurban                                                                           Affiliation: Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Timișoara

Colic is a frequent syndrome in horses, being basically a manifestation of the discomfort that can range from a dull ache to an excruciating pain that often ends with death. Causes can be multiple: digestive, neuronal, psychological, urinary, muscular, vascular and correlated with various pathological conditions and environmental factors, but premises of origin of true colic is stomach, small intestine or large intestine. Any disruption of their function, positional changes, twisting, swelling, infection or trauma will lead to the colic symptoms. There are many conditions that can trigger the colic syndrome, however, the widely recognized primary cause of the colic symptoms in horses is considered the stomach dilatation and/or of intestines, that will lead to obstruction of blood flow. In this sense, the review can be am useful remembrance, we believe, conceived in three chapters, for practitioners of the main elements related to inflammation and colic. Are presented: basic concepts related to anatomy and physiology of the horse digestive components, theoretical and practical recollections about the colic: general causes, syndrome types description: simple occlusion, intestinal wall stenosis, occlusion by strangulation, of bowel infarction, the sand colic, colic in foals, constipation with meconium, ulcers, bladder rupture, malformations etc, major symptoms and the clinical examination. Are also shown inflammation and colic medication and main treatment objectives, the anti-inflammatory list of the major useful groups: derivatives of acetic acid, propionic acid, aryl-anthranilic acid (fenamates), anti-inflammatory oxicam type, butyl pirazolidinic, COXIBS. In the last part of paper are presented the own contributions in therapy of colics in horses through a comparative study between Vetalgin® vet and Cronyxin® vet.
